Hey, hi, ho!

Hey!  My week has been productive so far.  Here's what happened so I won't forget.
--I gave a speech on texting and driving yesterday and received an A.  Alright, I got an A-.
--But I also found out I scored 99/100 questions correct on my history midterm!   I crammed for six hours that morning and now can't remember a single thing I studied.
--I woke up early this morning to write a compare/contrast essay on animal experimentation.
--During class, I wrote a short creative piece comparing a specific meal with war/battle.
--This afternoon, I wrote a longer creative piece about a female psychologist fantasizing about her male patient during a couples counseling session.  Juicy!  The assignment was to create an unreliable narrator.  I'm loving writing right now.  Especially formal essays.  They're much easier than creative writing.
--Jeremiah and I got into a nothing fight and then had the most insane burritos I've ever eaten so now we're bf and gf again.  These burritos were almost Panchero's good!!
--I'm far too obsessed with Jersey Shore right now and last night I had a dream that Snooki and JWoww were my friends.  IF ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!
--My friend Lauren said she liked my style which was way too sweet!!  I wish I had the energy to dress up everyday but here's an example of what I normally look like:
Slippers, socks, sweatpants, Jeremiah sweatshirt and vintage fur hat.  Most common outfit round here.  Have a great day ya'll!!

Being sick is fun...

Oh, what a spring break it's been...
First I got sick.  And then I promptly got better.
Then Jeremiah got sick.  And then I got sick again.
And now we are both sick.
We did go to the ranch last night to house sit which was quite peaceful.  I spent some time with the horses.  Just petting and talking to them. I'm definitely that "crazy cat lady" but with horses.  Ridiculous.
One good thing about this spring break has been having time to start practicing French.  From my limited practice I can already tell French will be much more challenging/discouraging than Spanish.  I do enjoy the practice, though, as the language is beautiful.
I also received my passport in the mail which is very exciting.... but I look completely cross-eyed in the picture!!!  WHAT THE HELL!!!???
Hm... okay, I've lost my motivation for posting.  Sorry for the random.  Salut!

That ruffle sleeve...

I fell in love with this ruffle shirt the moment I found it at forever 21.  What's not to love??  I guess what's not to love is the major fight Jeremiah and I got into later that night!  My level of sass tends to increase depending on how cute my outfit turns out.  I have a feeling this was one of those sass nights.... yikes!!!
 Yikes! No makeup.

Big ol' moon...

I survived midterms and spring break has gotten off to a nice start.  Hung out with Austin, Tyler, Paige, Brett, Josh and Peter for St. Patty's and got crazy in downtown LoDo.  Not all that crazy, just played some mad foosball and shot the shit with Austin for most of the night.  Friday I slept in and then got up to hang out with Travis and his doggy Princess Leia for most of the day.  The weather has been too beautiful.  Jeremiah and I went thrifting yesterday and bought a fabulous new to us couch!!  Hell yeah.  I also found some bright blue skinnies at Goodwill for $1.07.  BEST PURCHASE EVER!!!!!  Here's some pics of the biggest moon ever.  In 18 years, that is.

Snooze...

I'm having an absolute snooze of a day...  But only because I woke up at six, studied for six hours and took the hardest college test of my life.  History! Gah!  I feel hungover.  Even so, I studied like a raging maniac and I believe I'll get an A.

The weather is beautiful.  It feels like 2pm but it's past six.  Jeremiah worked on my upstairs shoe closet today.  It's not exactly Carrie Bradshaw's closet but I'll be just as thrilled when I put my first shoes in place.  Jeremiah is equally excited to be done with the damn thing.

Jeremiah gave me the first flowers he's ever given me (EVER) a couple days ago!!!  They are purple and make me very glad.

The Utah trip was called off but I'll talk to Sima sometime this week which is always fab.  A full girl day of painting toes and reading magazines is coming up with Ashley too.  Girls are great.

I finished July, July by Tim O'Brien.  I'll give it a 7.  My Vicky's swimsuits came in the mail!!!!  Only one fit.  I need a beach and I need sand.

Jim and Dave are in town for St. Patty's.  I only have two more short stories and an essay to write before I see their purdy faces.  Thursday will be the perfect time to get glad and celebrate the end of midterms.  I'm headed back to the ranch after that to work with Samantha and work my own riding skillz in the process.

I won't be on vacation but I will be applying to a new school, finding a way to learn French, and hopefully catching  some rays in Wash park.  Spring break rulez.

HORSEY HORSEY HORSEY!!!!!!!

TODAY WAS THE MOST WONDERFUL FANTASTIC DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to the ranch this morning to help Jeff with Samantha and she is doing sooo much better than when he first started working with her.  It's like she's a completely different horse.  I was worried about the windy day as horses are much more agitated in that weather but Jeff and I didn't have any hiccups.  Just for myself, here's a list of what I helped with:
--Held the blanket on Samantha and tried to keep her calm while Jeff put on her saddle.  Normally, Samantha would spook (her entire body jerks, like someone jerking awake, and she gets ready to either take off or buck) but today she just calmly moved forward a couple steps and I pet her, cooed, and put pressure on her to stay in place.
--We went down to the corral and Jeff lunged her a few times (ran her in circles) and then he had me do it for practice.  Jeff then put on her bridal, mounted her, and I lunged her a couple more times.  We also worked on commanding her backwards which took a bit more coercing.  Samantha isn't neck trained yet which means she doesn't react to pressure from the reigns on her neck so the lunging was meant to help in that regard.
--Jeff and I had an interesting moment in the corral as we were adjusting Sam's saddle because we both realized not too long ago, Sam had bucked from a similar adjustment with only slightly different circumstances.  We both stayed on one side of her today so she wouldn't feel trapped.  When Jeremiah got kicked, people were adjusting her saddle from both sides.
--We trotted the horses in a pasture straight back and forth to train Samantha to not run straight for the barn.  I found it funny that Sherman was much more inclined to shift his body in the way of the barn than Sam was and I was constantly having to readjust his path.  Such a stinker.
--Figure eights went okay.  I think Samantha is still a bit shaky because of not being neck trained.  I had some good practice with Sherman, however.
--The rest of the ride was for relaxing.  Samantha had previously been worked in an indoor arena so she's not used to working outdoors yet.  I'm so excited for this little horse!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aside from working with the horses, I had a great lunch with Jeff and Debbie and we had the most epic talk ever (like, 3hrs epic!) and I felt a wonderful sense of calm afterwards.  I often miss having close proximity parental support and Jeff and Debbie have been such a comfort in that way.  I'm very very lucky.

I WANT A JOB WORKING WITH HORSES.  I'm officially adding this to the list of New Year's resolutions.
A few months ago.  She wasn't trained to wear a saddle or bridle then.
March 2010.  Jeremiah lunging her.  This must have been before "the incident" as she's wearing a saddle.
Cutie pie.  March 2010.

Surprise, Surprise.  A big reason I'm excited for Paris is FASHION.  I've already started shopping and playing dress up so I'll be able to figure out exactly what to pack.  Thirty days is a long time to be away from home so I'll have to be very strategic.  Here are some teasers of potential looks.

Shopping and a horse...

I just went shopping!!  Gah.  I love shopping.  Good old Forever 21 never lets me down.  I also found out I'm getting A LOT of money back on my taxes due to being emancipated from my parents.  Soo, the trip to Paris is paid for!!  Great timing.  Let's see, what else is new?  The choir I joined has been shut down for the moment which makes me so very blue.  I was just getting back in the swing of things, getting closer to the people in the choir and BAM! no more choir.  Ugh.  I would usually just move on to the next hobby but choir is very special and I'd forgotten how much I missed it.  So I'll hopefully find a new choir.

I'm going to the ranch this weekend to visit Samantha the horse.  Jeff has been riding her the last couple days so I can't wait to see the spectacle with my own eyes!!  If you remember, Samantha is the one who kicked Jeremiah in the chest and mouth on the very day he was to ride her for the first time.  I don't think I ever posted pics, so here ya go.  If you want to read what happened, go to my other blog: http://soonnjjaa.blogspot.com/2010/04/story-time.html  Ahh, now that I've been through a couple creative writing classes this "story" make me cringe.  Oh, well.
Remember this, Jeremiah?
Poor guy.

OH, YAH, ART.

Art! Yeah! It's great! Even at 3am! When I can't sleep! And all I want to do is sleep! But, hey, I'll blog instead!
Here's some art from the DAM...
What in the shit was that, you say??  Theodore Waddell's work never looks good to me at first.  He uses thick globs of paint and blurry, misshapen images.  His work is most definitely not conventionally pretty, but I do find it striking.  I'm initially taken aback by the sloppy paint job and almost feel affronted by his execution.  How dare you call that art, you lazy amateur!!  His work makes me pause, however, to take a closer look. I think back to my painting teacher's advice to squint a bit and as it turns out, Waddell is right on the money.
Another. Squint and notice the position of the horse. Each goop is intentional and necessary.
Eva's favorite.  I'll get a better picture sometime.
Wicked headdress, bro!
Favorite of the day.

Outtake edit.

Ballet!

The past few days have been full of activities.
Choir practice on Thursday led to hanging out with Morgan and choir folk at the Satire and Squire.  I love being in choir.  The release I feel after a practice is similar to that of exercise (without the exercise!)  Morg and I also had some sorely needed girl time (makeuping, hairdoing and girl chatting).  I heard about Spencer's birthday last minute and went to meet up with him and other friends at Streets of London immediately following.  I was able to catch up with Ashley, Casey and Diana which is always lovely.
Yesterday, Spencer's new roommate John Paul and Spen hosted a fabulous dinner party for good friends.  John Paul cooked up some divine French cuisine and I felt very spoiled to have such talented friends as we sat around, listening to old records and sipping on wine.  I missed ballet last night so instead wore the most ballet-esque outfit I could think of.  I even curled my hair; how strange.  I really must be missing my inner girly-girl lately.  Here's a couple pictures.  Speaking of ballet!!!!!!!!  Jeremiah and I are going to the Colorado Ballet tomorrow to see Romeo and Juliet thanks to his parents generous Valentine's Day gift.  J even bought binoculars as he knows how excited I am.
Hmm...Sorry for the abundance of outfit posts.  I just like to remember what was worn to what.  What What.
