OH, YAH, ART.

Art! Yeah! It's great! Even at 3am! When I can't sleep! And all I want to do is sleep! But, hey, I'll blog instead!
Here's some art from the DAM...
What in the shit was that, you say??  Theodore Waddell's work never looks good to me at first.  He uses thick globs of paint and blurry, misshapen images.  His work is most definitely not conventionally pretty, but I do find it striking.  I'm initially taken aback by the sloppy paint job and almost feel affronted by his execution.  How dare you call that art, you lazy amateur!!  His work makes me pause, however, to take a closer look. I think back to my painting teacher's advice to squint a bit and as it turns out, Waddell is right on the money.
Another. Squint and notice the position of the horse. Each goop is intentional and necessary.
Eva's favorite.  I'll get a better picture sometime.
Wicked headdress, bro!
Favorite of the day.

I'll have one art...

We had Spencer over for a grand spaghetti dinner the other night and he couldn't help but make fun of me for my art obsession.  To prove him right, here are a bunch of pictures from January's first Friday:
Trench: bebe  Purse: thrifted Liz Claiborne  Shoes: thrifted Doc Martins $4  Everything else: Forever 21
I've talked about First Fridays before, but the amount of art galleries that hold free showings is unlike anything I've experienced before.  I find myself rushing at full speed from gallery to gallery to see as much as I possibly can.  The Denver Art Museum always has a lot of the same pieces from month to month but I almost never see the same work at First Fridays.
I always find myself most attracted to color, the human figure, and innovative depictions of faces.
Someday I'll have a house full of art like this.
 THESE WERE THE COOLEST!!!
Love the hands behind the back and pointed foot.  Very dainty gestures.
Afterward, Jesse gave us a free tasting of all his Leopold Bros alcohol. The Blackberry Liqueur was my favorite. Cheers!
